If you are looking for a location with architecture, florals, and historical significance look no further. When Haley and Brett told me they wanted their engagement photos at the Jefferson Memorial I knew it was going to be absolutely stunning. They also picked the best time of year as the cherry blossoms were in bloom. I was able to capture the beauty of not only the couple but the landscape as well.
I love getting pictures of the soon to be bride on her own. Haley was absolutely glowing with excitement for her upcoming wedding. Getting to capture the bliss on one’s face when they are in this exciting stage of life is something I will never get over. Of course who doesn’t love showing off their new bling? I always make sure to get as many photos as I can of her with her engagement ring before it gets worn in the years to come.
And if we are taking soon to be bride portraits we cannot forget the guy behind the bling! Soon to be groom portraits are a good way to ease guys into getting their photos taken. This way on the wedding day it’s not as big of a shock having a camera in your face and being told how to pose.
Couples portraits during an engagement shoot are not only fun and lighthearted but they are also practice. A couple gets to get the feel for poses they are going to end up doing on their wedding day. Some couples are naturals in front of a camera, but for a couple who might not be as comfortable this is the best way to start. I love getting to see couples open up as the shoot progresses and they get more confident in their posing.
Engagement shoots are such a good way to prepare yourself for what’s to come on the wedding day. They are also the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of the crazy ride that is planning a wedding. I hope that all of my couples love their photos as much as I love capturing them. I hope to one day have another session at the Jefferson Memorial with another couple just starting their journey!
