Fairmount Water Works

April 24, 2024

Rachel and David had their wedding on the most perfect August day at Fairmount Water Works. Everything about their day screamed timeless and classic from the black and white details scattered around to the special moments shared with parents. Writing this blog has felt like being there again and i’m so excited to share some of these moments with all of you!

VENUE:

Fairmount Water Works is engulfed in arguably one of the most picturesque parts of Philadelphia. This venue is overlooked by the historic Philadelphia Museum of Art and looks out over the famous Boathouse Row. As if that wasn’t enough, Water Works is home to a gorgeous gazebo, ballroom, and a breathtaking deck where a lot of couples choose to have their ceremony.  It’s truly hard to pass on this unforgettable venue.

GETTING READY:

Capturing a wedding day is all about the couple but I do also love getting to capture their parents. Not only was Rachel’s mom there to help her into her dress she also gifted Rachel the perfume she wore at her own wedding which was an extra special moment for them. She was also there to guide Rachel’s dad to the intimate first look Rachel had with him. Making sure I capture these special family moments is one of my favorite parts of this job.

PORTRAITS:

Rachel and David’s first look was at the Logan Hotel in Philadelphia. The garden at the hotel had such gorgeous scenery for this moment. We then went to Water Works where the rest of the photos were taken and I think they speak for themselves. Rachel and David were so fun to work with and they are such a stunning couple it made for the perfect portraits.

DETAILS:

One thing about Rachel and David’s day that has really stuck with me is their details. They were modern but classic at the same time. The gorgeous white florals packed such a punch they made every photo look elegant and sleek. Their simple color choice made me feel as if I was walking through a Vogue magazine. Perfection.

CEREMONY:

The ceremony was held outdoors and set the ambiance perfectly for the nuptials. The drapery mixed with a slight breeze on the day made for the most unforgettable backdrop. It was very clear to see the love Rachel and David’s family and friends have for them. Whether it be smiles or happy tears it was obvious that each person was undoubtedly excited for Rachel and David to say “I do”.

RECEPTION:

This reception was full of special moments, one of my favorites being when Rachel and David stepped out for the most lovely sunset photos. Another way Rachel and David involved their parents was through an intimate cake cutting with just the six of them. All of them shared a slice of cake and it was a moment I was really happy I got to capture.  I also love when I photograph a wedding and feel like I’m part of the party. Rachel and David’s guests were so fun and outgoing it was hard not to want to jump in on the dance floor with them!
